Iyengar Yoga is a complete system of classic hatha yoga with the focus on the structural alignment of the physical body through the practice of postures, also incorporating the practice of Ashtanga yoga (the eight principles, or limbs of yoga). It can differ from other styles of yoga in three ways: the focus on precision, sequence of postures and the occasional use of props.
BKS Iyengar pioneered the use of yoga props and equipment to help enable his students who were physically unable to achieve the various classic asanas (yoga postures) and help his students find means to achieve the health benefits given by the postures.
