About Angela

Angela has been practicing Pilates for ten years; first in Manchester with Paul Cooper and more recently in Glasgow with Jackie Anderson and then Vanessa Smith.

Pilates was developed by and named after Joseph Pilates. It took off in the 1920s in New York and was popular within the dance community and celebrities… Angela is neither of these.

Angela found Pilates in her early thirties when embarking on a journey of self-discovery and improvement.

"A little overweight and not particularly happy with life I was looking for something to do; to focus my mind, regain some level of fitness and to help me feel better about myself."

Through the six core principals; Breath, Centering, Concentration, Control, Flow and Precision, Angela learnt how to master many of the 34 classic exercises, as well as numerous variations.

"There are some things that your body just won't do so working with modifications and adaptations makes Pilates accessible to everyone."

Angela's style of teaching is inclusive and light hearted. She believes in attention to detail; focusing on correct positioning and alignment to gain the best results from each exercise.

Her aim is to help clients incorporate Pilates into their everyday lives; bringing awareness to muscle groups and the role they play, working on balance and core stability, improving posture and reducing aches and pains.

"There is something very rewarding and grounding spending an hour on your mat - becoming absorbed in the practice; just you, your body and your mind."

The Thursday evening classes are set at an intermediate level. If you are unsure whether this is the right level for you please get in touch with Angela to discuss your previous experience (if any) and suitability to this particular class or any other she may offer.

Committment: £10 drop-in, £64 for a block of 8 (this can be used with the Wednesday or Thursday evening class).
