Siobhan Fitzgerald has worked with holistic therapy for the past 20 years as befits what has become an ongoing journey on her path in Yoga.
Siobhan studied Hatha and Raja yoga from 1996 to 2000 with the late Johan Prosser, before an introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, through a good friend, took her study into a new, uncharted direction.
She left for India where she attended the Ashtanga Research Institute in Mysore with her Guru Sri Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath in 2004. She continued studies in Ayurvedic nutrition and massage, training with local practitioners and followed with a year’s teachings at the Yoga Thailand centre of Ashtanga research with Paul Dallaghan, who, along with the great pranayama master Sri O.P Tiwari continues to be the greatest influence on Siobhan’s development in yoga.
Siobhan moved back to Glasgow in 2006 where she combines teaching with lecturing part time in Massage, Nutrition and Anatomy. She is a fully Registered Yoga Teacher and a member of the International Guild of Professional Practitioners (IGPP).
Based within a beautiful, south facing room within The Movement Studio Siobhan runs Classes in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and specialises in “one to one" sessions “where people can progress in a much safer and more personalised environment.”
She says: “Yoga in itself brings inner calm and happiness to those who embrace the practice. The joy is in finding that growth within ourselves at a pace that is comfortable for each of us.”
Siobhan is offering all first time students of Ashtanga their class for free. our click here to book your place or find out more.
Gyrotonic was recommended to me 4yrs ago as, increasingly, I was suffering both joint and muscular pain and did not have the range or ease of movement which I required for both my work as a PE lecturer and my continued participation in a variety of sports. I really thought I might not be able to continue skiing – something I did not want to consider.
