Cathy Moran started practicing yoga in 2001, in London. Like many she was initially attracted to the transformative physical effects of Ashtanga but, as with so many of The Movement Studio’s teachers it was the personal experience of a back injury that intensified her deeper study of yoga’s wider disciplines.
Cathy believes that the physical and emotional growth that yoga fosters cannot be understated and she says that coherent thought, mental clarity and increased focus are additional benefits of her brand of yoga that sit well alongside the generally acknowledged strength and flexibility gains ascribed to the discipline.
A student of many inspirational teachers, Pierre Seghir, Hamish Hendry, and Rolf Naujokat amongst them, Cathy has covered the globe obsessionally pursuing her profound sense of vocation.
Cathy recently spent four months in India, under the tutelage of Sharath Rangaswamy, at The Sri K Pattabhi Jois AshtangaYoga Research Institute. Now back with us in Glasgow, Cathy is delighted to be teaching and sharing with others the techniques she has learned under the watchful eyes of some of yoga’s most revered practitioners.

I suffered from increasing back and nerve pain for years from my 20s through to my 40s, spent thousands on specialists and had reached the point where my ability to work was impacted. Now, after just under a year of working with Kate and Fin, I can do exercise again, and carry out normal, day to day tasks without worry or stress.
