After embarking on a yoga education that has spanned much of the globe, Ali Boyd is now glad to be sharing her hard-won knowledge with her fellow Glaswegians.
After training as a dancer from a very young age, Ali danced professionally in both the UK and abroad. Like many professional dancers, Ali found her path into yoga through the discipline’s complementary benefits of strength-building, increased flexibility and general well-being and in retirement from her former career she decided she wanted to deepen her understanding of a practice that had become central to her lifestyle in her first career.
Ali was introduced to her first teachers June Mitchell and Julie Hanson of Chi Yoga centre and both helped her gain her broad knowledge of the traditions of yoga.
Thereafter Ali focussed specifically on the Ashtanga Vinyasa form of yoga that is widely renowned for its therapeutic benefits for body, mind and spirit.
Ali graduated from Chi Yoga in 2008 and since then has been lucky enough to study with David Swenson and gain certification from Jo Manuel of The Special Yoga Centre in London to teach Yoga for the Special Child (a comprehensive program of Yoga techniques designed to enhance the natural development of children with special needs).
Ali spent much of 2011 in Venice, California, under the watchful eye of renowned teachers as Sean Corne, Erich Schifmann, Shiva Rea and Annie Carpenter. Now back with us at The Movement Studio, Ali is a senior practitioner with a wealth of experience stemming a number of specialisations.

After having three children and suffering from constant backache, Gyrotonic has helped me increase not only my core strength but I feel stronger all over. My pain has been greatly reduced and its definitely increased my range of movement. I'd recommend it to those wanting to see some definite results even after a few sessions.
